Three things trigger your birds to reproduce:

1. Light – increasing available light (full spectrum is best) to 14-16 hours per day is the first step. 2. Feeding – in the wild, the fertile period is one marked by an increase in wet weather. This makes food more abundant, and in seed eating species, the food source sprouts, or is soaked…. this bumps its nutrition levels, and is easier to feed their young. We need to mimic this. 3. Temperature – birds will raise young in a wide range of temperatures, but temps in the 60’s to high 70’s keeps the birds most comfortable, without the risks of egg binding or heat stresses leading to exhaustion.
